SPS DIGESTER COVERS are used
over the digester concrete tanks to seal the digested material and contain
the gaseous byproducts. In digester tanks the raw and odorous
sludge is
converted to a relatively stable material. The bacterial process converts
the raw material to organic acids along with gaseous by-products of
methane and others.
The digester covers are built in fixed and floating
types and provide a seal over the digested material. The gas is collected
in the gas dome and is burned as a fuel in the
sludge heater, with the
excess wasted to a gas burner. In the floating digester the cover can rise
vertically from the landing brackets to the top of the tank wall guided by
rollers to keep it from binding.
